Joe Head Joe - Cannibal Horse Smackdown

These guys are so gay for each other. Like, so gay. I know because I am friends with one half of JHJ. I am sure the other dude is cool, but he lives in Darwin. I asked full-time lady-killer and JHJ member HUDSON P. HUDSON to write some words about JHJ's seminal release, Cannibal Horse Smackdown. This shit is rad. Get on it. here he is. Look at him, look at the genius.

 alright you absoutely GROSS motherfuckers, i've been asked by the main man dan to write a little blurb on these here record, 'cannibal horse smackdown' by a group called joe head joe.
 i may be a member of this group.
 anyway, this is a record, this is a FUCKING RECORD!

we (me, cappp'n CAPS, auntie moira and mach oven) recorded it in two nights before i went on a short holiday in darwin in what is usually a post-production studio. well all the basic tracks were recorded after we split a case of beer. then the next night we got some vocals and theremin and other shit down. after i got back from the holiday we worked another night on ukelele and flute solos and then we were done. you can tell the songs on which i played drums because i am really bad at drums.

a quick role call;
 hudson p. HUDSON hudson - guitar, drums, vocals

cappp'n CAPS - drums, guitar, vocals, theremin

auntie moira - vocals, synth i think.

mach oven - ukelele, flute, vocals, those little KORG DS-10 noises on new bins and i think theremin on that track too.

anyway a little story on the title;

you ever seen a cannibal horse smackdown? shit is BRUTAL, man. they completely laying into the each, then the victor just stone cold eats the loser, blood all spraying and shit. personally, i consider it one of the most henious of crimes by the equine kind, but to them they just HORSIN' AROUND!

i am partial to lust for golf m'self, got percussion and acorns and such. oh yeah back to the album at hand, my favourites on cannibal horse are probably new bins and mud in yer backpack. songwriting was split 50/50, w/new bins and soupspoon being collaborative efforts.

soupspoon was a former member of jhj. she promised to play keytar and wear a spandex onesie. when this did not happen, we decided to wage some music WAR. she really does look perfect in a onesie.

anyway, this is probably the only time this will happen (dan is just like, hella short on content this time round), but i hope you enjoy this masterful piece of art, recorded with the greatest of care towards the finest of details. if you want a hard copy, i got exactly 1 (one) left. that's right, we tried to sell these motherfuckers AND MADE OUR MONEY BACK AND THEN ABOUT TWENTY DOLLARS ON TOP OF THAT.

when my dad heard this for the first time, he didn't say anything at first. he drove out, bought a carton of cooper's sparkling (the family drop) came back, gave me a beer and said
